This is just one of those images I keep trying to perfect. This is the 3rd incarnation of this image... vastly different from the others, but still very much the same. This is probably the simplest version thus far. And I know I will paint it again...

I'd had a dry spell since the beginning of November - and haven't drawn or painted anything. I finally broke that today with three paintings, all linked below. :)

One day I was driving in a neighboring city (Lancaster) and from the highway I saw a stack billowing white smoke, the color of which emphasized by the grey of the overcast sky. This is a quickly painted version of that scene.

A tree painting inspired by the last line from the Pink Floyd song "Time". Mostly by the last two words - magic spell.

Another tree much like the very first (split tree) however this one has much different shape and of course, is not split.

I'm sure there will be more in the coming days!

Holiday Season

Just a reminder this holiday season that while you're buying gifts for your friends & family & getting great gifts from them - remember that there are millions of people out there less fortunate.

While your out shopping, buy all the stuff needed for a great meal and donate it all to the local food bank (all frozen, canned, or boxed of course).

If you get a new coat this season, donate your old coat (or coats!) to charity - there are so many people out there who don't even have a decent coat - let alone a new one!

And most importantly - donate toys to Toys for Tots!!!!!! Children's clothing & necessities are also always important!!!!!

Have a friend who is hard to buy for and could get anything they want for themselves anyway? Give them a certificate stating you'll donate money to their favorite charity in their name, as a gift to them.

Also - please don't drink & drive - and don't let any of your friends & guests do so!!!!! If you are allowing alcohol at the party, take the keys of anyone who is drinking and doesn't have a designated driver, and let them crash at your place or call them a cab! You know - Call a Cab & Save a Life

Craft Show this Saturday

The Craft show I had mentioned previously is this Saturday! It will be open from 8am till 2pm, at the Dover Area High School

Directions from Rt 30: From 30 in York, Pennsylvania travel Westbound, go Right off the exit for Rt 74, stay on this road quite a ways until you get to the square of Dover - at the intersection of 74 & Canal Rd - there will be a Tom's on your Right, turn Left onto Canal Rd and the High School is just ahead on your Left.

I'm just excited about these pieces - which is why I'm talking about them before they are even done. Haha. I did a piece inspired by the song "fire woman" by The Cult. Its also got lots of car culture stuff in it too - which I'm probably going to be doing a lot of pieces soon with car stuff. I'm also on a gambling kick (artistically only - not fer real haha) So there will be more pieces like my "Lucky" - in fact I've already done Lucky Fairy 2 - She's inked and just needs some color! She and Fire Woman will be posted tomorrow - hopefully along with some of my other ideas I'm cooking up - because I'm quite pumped and ready to draw for hours on end every chance I get :)

PS - Rob Zombies "Past Present & Future" rocks and is a STEAL for the price I got it ($14) NIN "with teeth" also rocks :) I'm addicted to "only" at the moment...

Just Another Day

Well I worked lots today, but none of what I did was actual artwork! Haha

I got my keychain display done that I'd been working on, and I'm working on some mini cards that are 3x3.5" gift cards that have artwork on the front and are accented by ribbons and gel pens and sparkles... etc. Its in the beginning stages which always takes the most time, once I've got it down to a science they'll be posted online.

I'm also working lots of assorted boring things that move stuff forward but don't sound interesting to talk about. Tomorrow, I will draw.

I just got the new NIN :with teeth: and Rob Zombie :past present and future: so I'm all pumped up and inspired. Will probably be several more added to my music series - like "wanna try me" "use my body to keep you alive" and such lyrics by Zombie that just go straight in my brain and make pretty pictures. heh.

Lots of updates today:

Three new artwork fresh off my desk today!

Plus! I rearranged my gallery, cleaned out some old stuff I didn't want posted anymore and I actually added some old stuff I thought was worth a look - I put up a lot of the older Red Fairies so you can see my progression as I've worked on them how much they've changed, plus I organized all the Red Fairies into their own little section. I also added a graphite piece

and another colored pencil piece thats quite old but I like it and it never got posted before.

Craft Show in November

I will be setting up at a Craft & Gift show this November

This will be held at the Dover Area High School (Dover, Pennsylvania, outside York) - I assume in the Gym - on Saturday, November 12th from 8AM until 2PM. I will be there with loads of keychains, bookmarkers, prints, checkbook covers and more, even some stuff that cannot be bought on my website. If you're in the area - come visit!

I am going to hold off posting my art boxes on Ebay until after this show - I want to take them along and have them available there. If you really must have one feel free to email me and make an offer.

I'm presently working on a new box that has a celestial theme - and uses my pretty new blue shimmer paint :)

I'm going to be setting up a stand at Morningstar Marketplace this coming Saturday - September 10th. I'll be somewhere in the outside setups so if you're in the area stop by! (see the link for info about the marketplace)

I'll have all kinds of goodies with me - including a ton of stuff that isn't available on my website yet!!! (and some new artwork that isn't here either!)

On the new product front I'm getting the checkbook covers revised and just about ready to go, the bookmarkers are coming along nicely too. Mainly I have lots of photography to get done and tons of work yet on the coloring book - which I also hope to have with me Saturday so this is a major crunch week. :)

I also squeezed in two comissions this week - one is a painted slate w/ a light house and the other is a tribal dragonfly - I'll get both posted here sometime this week. After doing the lighthouse I've decided to start painting a bit again, so who knows what will be seen here soon!

Not Enough Hours in the Day!

Well, I continue to press forward trying to get as much stuff done as I can, but of course, with having a 'real job' also I end up wishing I had more time! Like a vacation's worth of more time! It wouldn't be much of a vacation, but it would be worth it. So I'll think on that one.

Anyway, I'll get to the good stuff.

I'm working on proto-types for wallets featuring my work - I have to find just the right wallet at the stores to use, and I'm still searching for that elusive product, but so far the prospects are hopeful. But it will look cool - see! [link]

I'm also working on light switch covers, checkbook covers, revised bookmarkers & keychains, and perhaps even some stationary type things.

Finally, I've added prints to my site. Nice prints made on Epson's Brilliant White Watercolor Fine Art Paper - I checked on their site and this paper has the longest archival rating for the size I need. I was suprised to find it will last around 20 years longer than their Velvet Fine Art Paper, which was my first choice before reading that. Since the prints are new as of now, the Limited Editions are still in the beginning of the editions.

On a non art note - I got the 1st & 2nd seasons of Samurai Jack on DVD this week. I've adored the show since the first time I saw it - its so well done and quite unlike any animation I've ever seen. I've even found it a bit inspiring too!

Marching along...

I've been quite hard at work trying to get as much stuff done as quickly as I can now that I've got my printer. Whew - I've done the linework for 3 of the coloring book pages and half done on the fourth. I've started on a few products for my shop that are from a burst of creativity on my part - they are items I haven't seen any other artists offer with their work - and I love doing Unique stuff so I'm quite excited about the prospects I've lined up! I'm not gonna spill the beans quite yet - but as soon as I've got my stuff ready it will start showing up on my site and on EBAY too! I can barely contain myself :)

On the desk I've got plans for a 2nd entry for the Arthurian Legends EA art show - I'm just not satisfied with my Lady of the Lake - She's beautiful and I'm quite happy with the sword and the colors of the whole piece - but it just doesn't have enough emotion, and I really feel I need an emotional piece for this one. I've got my layouts all ready to color on a piece that features Guinevere at a moment of indecision, before she has given in to her love for Lancelot. It will probably show up on my site Tues or Weds depending on how much time I can devote to it.

I finally got my printer! So this means I'll be making prints availible for most of my artwork, which will be high-quality Giclee prints with very long last inks! I will also be able to offer stuff like t-shirts, postcards, giftcards, better bookmarkers, magnets and anything else I can dream up!

I am already working on my coloring book - which will feature some of my most popular designs as line art that can be colored! There will also be some never before seen line work I did just for this project. I will have pre-order information up on the site as soon as I have figures ready!

My Rant

I'm not one to complain but.....

I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who have NO idea who Aeon Flux is, but she is a lot to me. Prior to my seeing that show, I would draw still lifes, and cats, and boring stuff like that. Then, I saw Liquid Television on MTV the first time - it was one of those events I can tell you exactly where I was - we were on vacation in a hotel room and I was flipping through the TV late at night - I was still fairly young so after I watched it a while my mom tried to get me to turn it off but it was too late - I was hooked. I watched Liquid Television religiously, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Aeon Flux short each time (the other shorts were great too, but AF always my fave). Then, the inevitable happened - Aeon got her own 1/2 hour long regular show on MTV. Rock on! I think at that point it became one of the happiest days of my life at the time. Aeon is THE reason I started drawing women. (and later gained an intrest in fashion) I started drawing her, and when I moved to a new high school, I made a new friend. He saw my drawings of AF and of Tank Girl, and introduced me to Anime. And things just escalated from there :)

Anyway, I now own all the Aeon videos, the book, one of the T-shirts, and the shows theme music on CD's. I still watch it every now and then, and yes when I play the CD's I can picture what would be going on in the show at that moment - I know it that well. So you can tell I'm a pretty big AF freak - and now they are making a movie. And it is so wrong.

I read about the plot of the movie, which isn't too bad. But they chose Charlize Theron for the part. I love Charlize - I thought she was awesome in Devil's Advocate. But she's too soft and pretty and feminine to be Aeon. Uma Thurman would be so much a better choice - she's got the build and the cheekbones and the kick-ass cred from movies like Kill Bill and Batman (as Poison Ivy). Now even if the choice of actress were bad, they could put TWO of the show's other NOTORIOUS aspects to good use - but they did not. Aeon is known for her strange hair. They gave Charlize hair that isn't even remotely interesting. The clothing on Aeon is also quite unique..... and again, what I've seen so far is kinda lame. Its not like they can't get the clothing - I mean its just kinda dominatrix like and the clothing for 5th Element was more extreme than this :)

So I'm irritated that something that could be so cool was done so half assed. I have a feeling anyone who loves classic AF for the same reasons I do is probably not going to be too thrilled with the movie. But, its AF so I'll be seeing it anyway :)

Well, I wanted to make a simple way to post updates, newest artwork, any upcoming news and projects, and anything else I feel like sharing, so here we are!

Woooo fun!

Anyone who continually reads this will probably get a disturbing glimpse at my psychosis, but I've always maintained that I'm an artist - I'm allowed to be eccentric! Besides, I'm harmless :)

Anyway, onto the things that were on my mind and made me decide to start all this stuff.

1. Printer! Yay - I'm almost at the point I can purchase an Epson 2200 to create archival quality Giclee prints on high quality paper - which about beats my other printing options with a stick! So this means I'll be able to offer really nice prints - and I can do some limited editions also. I also will be able to make other fun stuff - like temporary tats, stickers, t-shirts, and all sorts of interesting things. I've got soooo many ideas rolling around in my head so look forward to some interesting things popping up soon.

2. Ink ink ink ink - I am having SO much fun doing all these red & black fairies & ladies! They are kinda my own personal tribute to pin up art - which I adore- and it gives me a chance to go crazy with all the little details and crazy clothing ideas and little iconic things that all dance around at the back of my head. It gets really bad if I see a girl walking down the street punked out, or go to hot topic and look at clothes or even see a Bratz doll, because they all seem to give me ideas for these pieces. You can expect to see tons of them showing up in the future, because I don't see any end to my inspiration in site. Plus Fortune Cookie Fairy is to date my best Cafe Press selling T-Shirt - so I'm going to be churning out all sorts of things featuring my ink work.

3. Coloring Book! - I had planned this quite a while ago, but simply have not had the means to create it....until now! Once I get my printer, I'll be able to simply print books as they are ordered, no need to go to a printer and order 1000 that I don't have room or money for :) I'm going to start very soon taking some of my Ink (see #2 above discussion) and converting them into linework (no filled in red or black) to be put in a nice big coloring book!
